Dr. Jakob is on sabbatical for the 20-21 academic year.
Dr. Keith Jakob is the Donald & Carol Jean Byrnes Professor of Finance, and he is a Full Professor of Finance. Keith studied at the University of Utah from 1987 to 2000. He received a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in German, a Masters in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Finance. His research interests are in dividends, market-microstructure, corporate finance, IPOs, international finance, and investment and mutual fund performance.
Keith has published papers in a variety of prestigious journals including the Journal of Financial Economics, Financial Management, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions & Money, Australian Journal of Management, The Financial Review, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Behavioral Finance, The North American Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Applied Finance, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, The Journal of Investing, Global Finance Journal, Enterprise Development and Microfinance, Applied Finance Letters, The Journal of Performance Measurement, Financial Services Review, The Journal of Index Investing, Journal of Asset Management, and the Case Research Journal.
Dr. Jakob also co-authored a book chapter along with Dr. Bruce Costa for a book published by Oxford University Press entitled Mutual Funds and Exchange-Traded Funds: Building Blocks to Wealth.
Keith has consulted for and helped run various businesses, has consulted with a regional CDFI lending institution, and has also managed investments for an LLC. Keith has also worked as an expert witness regarding financial fraud. Dr. Jakob has also been a board member or finance committee member for several regional non profit organizations.
During his career Keith has spent several periods overseas. In 2004 he worked in Chile on a short-term faculty exchange at the Catholic University in Santiago. For the academic 2007-2008 year Keith was on a full year faculty exchange to the University of Granada, so Keith and his family were living in Granada Spain. During the 2009 and 2010 Winter sessions Dr. Jakob lead student trips in Chile from Santiago to Patagonia. For the academic 2011-2012 year Keith and his family were on a sabbatical at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
Away from the office, Keith enjoys hiking, biking, river-surfing, camping, fishing, and hanging out with his wife Jody, his daughters Hannah and Mia, and his son Max. KEITH LOVES SKIING AND KAYAKING!
